CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — The Nationwide Temperature Services has verified that there was a 17th twister that shaped throughout the storms that strike the location in early April.
The microburst that formed in Hanging Rock and Ironton has been reclassified as a higher stop EF1 twister. The new classification comes after officials reviewed drone footage and destruction surveys of the affected area.
This twister is the 17th to be verified that happened throughout a critical weather outbreak that struck the region on April 2.
