UPDATE (3:14 p.m. on Friday, April 26): A 45-year-old man was found shot in the chest in Logan County on Friday, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says the victim was found along Bayview Drive.
They tell 13 News that the evidence is leading them to believe it is a suicide, but they are treating it as a homicide.
LOGAN COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Authorities are investigating after a person was found dead in Logan County Friday.
According to Logan County Sheriff Paul Clemens, a body was found in a residential area of Mud Fork Road in Mount Gay Friday morning between 6:30 and 7 a.m. Clemens says the person was a male, but no further information is being released on his identity.

The sheriff says the body was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to Clemens, the sheriff’s office is currently investigating the death as a homicide, but he says they are not ruling out the possibility that the death was a suicide.
Clemens tells 13 News they are waiting for lab results before releasing any further information on the investigation.
