SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – A part of the Kanawha Turnpike is shut down because of to a fallen tree and downed powerlines.
According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers, the calls started coming in around 5:50 p.m. They say a tree fell and took down some powerlines with it.
The Kanawha Turnpike is at the moment shut between Tiny Creek and Chesapeake Road.
According to Appalachian Power’s outage map, there are about 1,163 buyers without energy in South Charleston at this time.
Crews are on scene, and dispatchers say no accidents have been noted.
