CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A $1.2 million financial commitment has been made to turf the North Charleston Local community Center’s multi-use athletic field for baseball, soccer and soccer, according to a launch from the Town of Charleston.
The turf will be finished by FieldTurfUSA, Inc. and is expected to get started growth in late spring or early summertime. The project is funded through a $250k federal grant and $950k permitted in the City’s FY 2024 finances.

“The addition of this multi-use athletic field in North Charleston is a tremendous expense in our Parks and Recreation services – increasing chances for youth soccer and football and aligning with our eyesight to offer our little ones with greater taking part in time although also rising sports activities tourism through new options,” Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said.
This will make the North Charleston discipline the 11th city-owned athletic area with turf as element of an investment that has now reached a total of $10 million.
The other fields include things like: Bigley Discipline 1 – Upper, Bigley Industry 2 – Lower, Cato Park Lower Soccer Area, Cato Park Upper Soccer Subject, Kanawha Metropolis Minimal League Area, Kanawha Metropolis Softball / College of Charleston Industry, Martin Luther King, Jr Centre Complicated, North Charleston Tiny League Area, GoMart Ballpark Industry and Suppa Minor League/Softball Industry.
